One of the amazing things about the film footage of Novem from 1973 is the fact that they tell us why they wrote their songs. Knowing the inspiration for the songwriter makes their music that much more powerful.

With Eyes of a Child Kris expresses a feeling we all have from time to time as we get older: what would it be like to view the world again through the eyes of a child? Her lyrics do a great job of taking us back to the days when we didn’t have a care in the world.

“How would I view the world if I was still a child?” -Kris

Nobody ever put the hurt on you
Nobody ever brought you down
Offering the same big grin to everyone
You never have to worry how you'll get around

You can't help yourself- you always speak the truth
Everyone you meet might be your friend
You got no inhibitions hangin' on to you
Anything you want you just pretend

There'd be no reason not to smile
There'd be no fences in the wild
If we could only see the world through the eyes of a child

Blue skies and gray skies they both suit you just the same
Every day is a lifetime in itself
When that bad weather comes you'll be laughing in the rain
You don't hide anything from yourself

There'd be no reason not to smile
There'd be no fences in the wild
If we could only see the world through the eyes of a child

It's time to learn the way from innocence
There still may be a chance for everyone
To shine the inner light with confidence
And finally make our way into the sun

There'd be no reason not to smile
There'd be no fences in the wild
If we could only see the world through the eyes of a child
